It’s a gey dreich day in Scotland today. That’s a phrase you’ll hear a lot in Scotland. Dreich means, grey, damp and miserable. If we didn’t have the wet days, we wouldn’t have such a beautiful green country. Just keep reminding yourself of that, and wear a waterproof.
Scotland has a lot of words that refer to the differing weather conditions, because we have a lot of differing weather conditions – often within the same day. To quote a famous Scot (Billy Connolly) there’s no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing. So, get your waterproof on and get out and about. It may be dreich now but the sun might be out in a minute!
