Muckle means big, or a great amount of something. You might say someone has muckle great feet, or that there’s a muckle great coo in the field.

In Scotland many things can be described as muckle, though we’re not a muckle country, just a fiercely proud wee nation. We like a bit of emphasis, so muckle is often followed by great (which also means big) as in a muckle great spider, or a muckle great coo.
