She’s a cheeky wee besom! No I’m not talking about her morals just her attitude. The Scots are really good at insults.

Language evolves over time and, while besom used to refer to a woman of low morals, it has come to mean a woman or girl with attitude. I know a few cheeky wee besoms, and frankly I pride myself on being one too. Besoms of the world unite, I say! Life would be very dull without us. It’s meant to be an insult but I say let’s embrace our besom-ness… besom-ocity? besom-itude? Yay for besoms.
